Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Prompt:One winter afternoon, I stopped to watch the snow fall outside my house. The world felt completely quiet, and the snow covered everything in a soft white blanket. I noticed how peaceful it was, with no cars or people around. In that still moment, I felt calm and grateful for the simple beauty of nature. It reminded me to slow down and appreciate small, quiet moments in life. Summary: Today we worked on our one pager. Reflection: Today I learned how to make a visual for a poem.

Prompt: In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

Prompt: I once had to tell my friend that I needed space to focus on schoolwork. We used to hang out every day, but my grades were starting to drop. At first, she was upset and thought I didn’t want to be friends anymore. After a while, she understood and respected my decision. Setting that boundary actually made our friendship stronger because we learned to respect each other’s needs. Summary: Today we did a common lit. Reflection: I got better at using a text to answer questions.

Prompt: Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Prompt: Last year, my family moved to a new city faster than I expected. One week we were packing, and the next we were living somewhere completely different. I missed my old friends and the familiar places I loved. It showed me how quickly life can change. Like Frost says, “Nothing gold can stay,” because good times don’t last forever. Summary: Today in class we reviewed poems and took notes on "Nothing Gold can Stay" by Robert Frost. Reflection: I learned more about Robert Frosts poetry style.

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt: My favorite word right now is chill. I like it because it can mean so many different things; it can describe relaxing after a long day, staying calm when things get stressful, or just having a good, easygoing attitude. I use it a lot with my friends when we’re hanging out or when I’m trying to remind myself not to overthink things. It’s my favorite word because it reminds me to stay relaxed and not let small problems get to me. Life feels a lot better when you just stay chill. Summary: Today in class we worked on our power point presentation.  Reflection: I learned more about how I can reflect on my childhood.

In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Prompt: Imagination helps me deal with stress and boredom because it lets me escape for a little while. When things get hard, I like to daydream about being somewhere fun or doing something exciting. It helps me forget my problems and feel calmer. Sometimes I imagine how things could get better, and that gives me hope. Even though I have to come back to real life, using my imagination makes things feel easier to handle. Summary: Today in class we looked over and annotated a poem by Robert Frost Reflection: I learned how to annotate poems better.

After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

Prompt: A time I faced a high-pressure situation that demanded my complete focus was during a baseball game when I was pitching in the final inning. Our team was ahead by just one run and there were two outs with runners on base. The pressure was intense and I could feel everyone’s eyes on me, and I knew one mistake could cost us the game. I took a deep breath, blocked out the noise, and focused only on the catcher’s glove. That moment of concentration helped me throw a perfect strike to end the game. The situation was risky because any loss of focus could have changed the outcome, but staying calm and centered made all the difference. Summary: :Today in class we went over the poem "Out, Out" by Robert Frost and annotated it.  Reflection: I learned more about Robert Frost and got to analyze one of his pieces of poetry that I had never read before.

Write about what you did over the Fall Break.

Prompt: The first weekend portion of fall break I had a baseball tournament and spent most of my time doing that. On Monday, I went to the Falcons vs Bills Monday Night Football game. Then I went to Iowa to visit the University of Iowa and see some of my family up there. It was a great trip and was amazing to see all of my family I have not seen in years. That Saturday I went to the Penn State vs Iowa football game and it was amazing. The environment was unreal and was just an amazing experience. Reflection: Today in class we wrote a 6 panel comic strip using our vocab words. Summary: I learned many new vocab words.

Prompt: How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Prompt: Even when I have a lot going on, I make sure to enjoy small moments in my day. First, I take a few minutes in the morning to listen to music while I get ready, which helps me start the day in a good mood. During lunch, I like to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air, even if it’s just for a short break. Later in the day, I take time to talk and laugh with my friends, which always lifts my spirits. These little moments help me stay positive and make my busy days feel more enjoyable. Summary: Today I just did my blog posts. Reflection: I was able to get a lot of my blog posts done.

Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt: One time my baseball coach pulled me aside after a tough game where I struck out twice. He told me, “One bad day doesn’t define you, but how you respond does.” Those words stuck with me because he didn’t focus on my mistakes, but on my attitude. From that day on, I started working harder at practice instead of getting frustrated. His encouragement changed the way I approached challenges, both on and off the field. Summary: Today in class we continued to write our argumentative paragraph on ambush. Reflection: I got better at writing in formal language.

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

Prompt: One moment when I had to step out of my comfort zone was during a class presentation. I had always been nervous about speaking in front of people, but this time I volunteered to go first. My hands were shaking, but I took a deep breath and focused on what I had practiced. As I spoke, I started to feel more confident and noticed my classmates paying attention. By the end, I was proud that I faced my fear and stepped up. Summary: Today we wrote a claim on writable for a short story called Ambush. Reflection: I learned about this guys war experience.

Write about a dream that felt real.

Prompt: I had a dream that felt really real. I was walking outside, and everything looked bright and calm. Then I saw an old friend I hadn’t seen in a long time. We started talking and laughing like we used to. I could even feel the hug when we said hi. Then the sky suddenly got dark, and I felt scared, like something big was about to happen. Before I could ask what was going on, I woke up. It felt so real that I had to sit up and make sure it was just a dream. Summary: Today we got new vocab words and did a newsela. Reflection: I learned 15 new vocab words.

Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

Prompt: Something I have always been curious about is what I will do when I am older. I currently have no idea what I want to do and am not sure what will happen. I wish I was able to know what I would do so I don’t have to figure it out. I am really curious and hope it ends up being something good. My parents have been telling me I need to figure out what I am interested in, but I don’t wanna make that life-changing decision yet and possibly make my life better or worse. Summary: Today we wrote our argument paragraph.  Reflection: I learned how to effectively create an argumentative paragraph with evidence and counterclaims.

Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt: The best gift I have received is my new Xbox. I really wanted to get it and my parents knew how happy it would make me. For a few months I used it for almost 6-7 hours a day. I was able to play a lot of games with my friends and make a lot of memories. I am very appreciative of it and love to use it. I still use it a lot and will continue to for a long time. Summary: We did a quiz on our vocabulary and learned about formal and informal language. Reflection: I learned when to use formal language and when to use informal language.
