After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

Prompt: A time I faced a high-pressure situation that demanded my complete focus was during a baseball game when I was pitching in the final inning. Our team was ahead by just one run and there were two outs with runners on base. The pressure was intense and I could feel everyone’s eyes on me, and I knew one mistake could cost us the game. I took a deep breath, blocked out the noise, and focused only on the catcher’s glove. That moment of concentration helped me throw a perfect strike to end the game. The situation was risky because any loss of focus could have changed the outcome, but staying calm and centered made all the difference.

Summary: :Today in class we went over the poem "Out, Out" by Robert Frost and annotated it.

Reflection: I learned more about Robert Frost and got to analyze one of his pieces of poetry that I had never read before.

Prompt: Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

Prompt: In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?
