Prompt: Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

Prompt: One time, I indirectly encountered a homeless person when I was leaving a grocery store and saw someone sitting near the entrance with a small sign asking for help. I remember noticing how tired they looked and realizing how easy it is to take basic things, like having food or somewhere warm to go for granted. It made me feel a mix of sympathy and helplessness, because I wanted to help but also knew that giving a dollar wasn’t going to fix everything. The moment stuck with me and made me think more about how many people deal with struggles we don’t always see.

Summary: We started reading a new short story.

Reflection: I learned how to read and analyze a short story with questions.
